Think I might have knowledge of the problem.
(Since this is currently the first thread in the correct category I'll post here)

The current problem may not obtain to the servers at all, it could be that the current flash player is incompatible with the old multiplayer api. Therefore, 1 of 2 things need to occur:
1. The multiplayer API needs to be updated
2. All games using the old Multiplayer API as well as the chat need to be upgraded to player I.O where this type of problem won't just be a pain in the butt (No revenue work) fix.

This is a theory based on what I have seen with other flash games/applications.

Awkward...some people are in the chats..

I know why this is happening..I think chris is updating nonoba, like, changing some rooms, making some, updatng some pics and some colors, adding and removing games, that kind of stuff. I used to go on this other chat site, the same thing happened there, when it was fixed it was tricked out with all sorts of new stuff. So i'd say this might be the first step into a better nonoba.
